Getting
There
From almost
all major cities in the world, Uganda‘s entry point is Entebbe International
Airport served by several international carriers including, British Airways,
Emirates, Kenya Airways, SN Brussels , KLM Airways, Air Tanzania,
Ethiopian Airways.
Uganda can also be reached
overland from Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. There are several Bus services
operating between countries on a daily basis.
Passports
and Visas
A valid passport
is mandatory. Visa requirements sometimes so check before travel. For citizens
of UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, can purchase visas upon arrival at
the airport or land border.
Health
A certificate
of yellow fever vaccination is required. Visitors should take Malaria precautions.
It’s advisable to drink bottled water, available in all points in the country
rather than tap water.
Money
The unit currency
is Uganda Shillings. All world major currencies are accepted although the
US Dollar is the most common. British Pounds, Euros, Rands etc all can
be exchanged. Forex bureau are many in major urban centers. Credit cards
can be used in selected places in Kampala.
Language
English is
Uganda’s official language and is spoken widely. Of the 30 plus different
indigenous languages, Luganda serves as something of a lingua franca.
When
to Visit
Any time of
the year, although mountain hikes, Gorilla treks and forest walks are more
challenging during the rainy season which peak mid September-Dec and March-May.
What
to wear
Daytime temperatures
are generally warm to hot, so bring lots of light clothing. Evenings are
cooler especially in high altitudes, so carry a couple of light sweaters.
What
to Bring
To fully enjoy
the game reserves please carry binoculars and Camera. Photographers will
need zoom lens for wildlife. Print film and development is available in
Kampala.
Toiletries and other
essentials can be bought anywhere in Uganda.
Car
Hire and Driving
Driving is
on the left side. Royal Way Holidays Ltd has a fleet of vehicles for hire

Visitors without experience
of African roads are advised to organize a vehicle with driver not self
drive.
Accommodation
and Food
International
quality hotels exist in most large towns and national parks. Comfortable
and mid range and budget accommodation is found in all tourist centers.
Hotels and restaurants
serve good western food including chips/French flys, continental, Indian,
Italian and Ugandan local dishes. Beers, Wines and spirits are in plenty.
Telecommunications
You can make
telephone calls back home while in Uganda. Three major mobile service provides
operates in most part of the country including parks.
