THE WILD EXPERIENCE - UGANDA

Day One.
Depart to Kibale National
Park, after breakfast. This will take you about 5 hour drive from Kampala
You will Escape the city in the morning and extend to western Uganda through
lots of tea plantations and later to Kibale.
This park is East African world of
Chimpanzee. Check in Travelers Choice. After lunch move to park headquarters
and start your trek in search of Chimpanzee. The park is organized into
trails that will help you walk well in a very fresh environment. The tour
guides will show you the chimpanzee but other primates exist in the forest.
This can take you up to 4 hours. Return to park headquarters and proceed
to Hotel in Fort portal , relax , dinner and over night.
Day Two
Depart early morning after
breakfast and head to Queen Elizabeth National park. This journey will
take us 3-4 hours. Queen Elizabeth N.P. is one of the outstanding treasures
of Uganda. QENP has recently been designated a Biosphere Reserve
for Humanity under UNESCO. The park covers a remarkable variety of
eco-systems; from semi-deciduous tropical forest to green meadows, savannah
and swamps. It is the home of the famous tree-climbing lions, the
Uganda kob and other antelope as well as elephant, buffalo, hippos, baboons,
and chimpanzee.
Over 500 species of birds have been
recorded here making it prime target for birdwatchers. Species recorded
include the shoebill stork, black bee-eater, 11 types of kingfishers and
a variety of raptors including several falcons and eagles. In the
crater lakes, spectacular flocks of flamingos gather, creating the image
of a moving pink carpet The launch trip along the Kazinga Channel between
Lake George and Edward is a memorable way to view the variety of game in
Queen Elizabeth.
North of the main gate is the crater
area, one of the most scenic parts of the park. To the East, in Kyambura
Gorge, visitors can climb through tropical forest and catch a glimpse of
a variety of primates. In the more isolated Ishasha sector of the
park, search the woodlands for the tree-climbing lions perching on the
boughs of ancient fig trees. To the Southeast, travelers can explore newly
opened trails in Maramagambo forest. You will enjoy this on the game drive.
Arrive in the park early afternoon
and check in Queen Park Hostel. The rooms in the hostel are clean with
twin beds and mosquitoes nets. After Lunch, at 3.00 pm, head to shores
of Lake George to take one of the most fascinating boat cruise in the park.
This Launch trip starts on Lake Edward and moves along Kazinga water channel.
Other tourists from other countries will join you. A guide will be on the
trip to answer every question.
Lots of water animals, e.g. Crocodiles,
Hippos, beautiful water birds, water buffalos, 65 year old Elephants, drinking
water by the shores. You will have a chance to see a hippo at a closer
range and say hello. This will be a perfect chance to record your
African experience. The cruise takes two hours after which you will come
back, and if time allows take an evening game drive. Drive back, relax,
dinner and overnight.
Day Three
Wake up early morning, by
6.30 am, the African experience rocks again. Start a great game drive around
the park. You have a wildlife guide with you, to tell you all about animals.
This is a chance to see thousands of wildlife e.g., Monkeys, hyenas, lions,
Elephants, Uganda Kobs, Warthogs, and thousands of beautiful birds. You
will have a chance to view up to 604 different species of birds-the highest
number of bird species to be found within any nature reserve in Africa.
The game drive takes up to 4 hours around the park. Remember to pass with
your Camera to electronically record this experience. Return to Tembo Restaurant
for Breakfast.
After Breakfast escape Queen Elizabeth
and to travel to Bwindi Impenetrable park, the home of the famous mount
Gorillas. Every year thousands of people from around the world flock to
this area to see the famous Gorillas.
Bwindi is located in southwestern
Uganda on the edge of the western rift valley covering 331 sq. kms.
It is one of the largest natural forests in East Africa, supporting large
number of plants and animals not found elsewhere. About half the world's
population of 630-mountain gorilla reside in Bwindi.
Along with the gorillas, there are
nine other species of primates including chimpanzee, blue monkey, red tail
monkey, L'hoest's monkey, black and white Columbus, potto, demidoff's and
needle - clawed galago.
Three hundred and forty-seven species
of birds have been recorded in Bwindi; seven species are listed as endangered.
Species of particular interest include the Kivu ground thrush, white-bellied
robin chat, red-throated ale the, collared apallis, short-tailed warbler,
yellow-eyed black flycatcher, Rwenzori batis, blue headed sunbird, strange
weaver and the Shelley's crimson wing. Over 200 species of butterflies
have also been recorded here.
You will check in Buhoma Lodge .Buhoma
lodge is built in typical African style that will make you enjoy
your safari the more.
Day Four
Wake up early morning, by
6.30 am and Breakfast will be ready at 7.00 a.m. At 7.30 am, your Gorilla
trekking Guide will conduct a brief lesson on Gorilla trekking with other
trekkers before you set off.
Enter the sanctuary and enjoy the
beauty and freshness of the forest, home of the mountain gorillas.
Proceed through dense bush to trek for these endangered animals.
You will move further and enter this
unspoiled thick environment to discover the African natural treasures.
Tour Guides will discover gorilla and you will indeed enjoy them. Their
behaviors are unique. Gorilla trekking may take 3-6 hours. As you are moving
in the trails, you will listen to music of nature. Birds will be flying
and singing, butterflies of different colors. Your guide will be with you
all the times to answer any question you may pose and of course to tell
you the dynamics of nature that goes on in Bwindi Impenetrable National
park
Other primates also live in the forest
including the black-and-white Columbus monkey, red tail monkey and chimpanzee.
Return to the Accommodation at Buhoma for dinner and overnight.
Day Five.
Wake up in the morning.
After breakfast, a guide will be at your on standby to lead you to a great
nature walk. This will centre on other primates within the Park .You will
also take another nature trail. This will take you up to 3 hours after
which you will come back to park headquarters.
After lunch, drive to Mgahinga National
Park to discover yet another fascinating group of Gorillas. This is a 4
hours drive.
This park is in the far southwestern
corner of Uganda. As part of the Virunga Conservation Area, where half
of the world's mountain gorillas make their homes, this park is considered
important as Bwindi. The park is comprised of parts of three extinct
volcano mountains, Mt. Muhavura (4127m), Mt. Gahinga (3475m) and Mt. Sabyinyo
(3645m).
The vegetation of Mgahinga is typically
afro-montane, with a forest belt, a bamboo zone, an ericaceous belt and
an alpine zone. The park supports a variety of animal species including
gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, elephant, and leopard and several
cat. There are also over 180 species of bird found in the region.
Among these are the handsome francolin, the Rwenzori touraco and the side-breasted
tit.
About 45 mountain gorillas use the
Mgahinga sector of the Virunga Conservation Area seasonally. Gorilla trekking
is available here when the gorillas are in the park. Trekking is strenuous;
therefore good physical condition is necessary.
Mgahinga is an interesting park.
In addition to gorilla trekking, it offers a number of other exciting half-day
hikes and the challenge of a full-day climb to the summit of Mt. Muhavura
or Mt. Gahinga, or the breathtaking Sabyinyo Gorge. Also of interest
are the three swamps: Rugezi, Kabiranyuma and Kizibakye.
Arrive at Kisoro and check in Travelers
Inn, is a homely environment with self contained rooms and a fire place
outside, relax, dinner and dinner.
Day Six
Gorilla dream extends further
this day. Wake up early in the morning for yet another trekking experience.
Mgahinga National park is surrounded by mountains so the temperatures are
a little bit cold but not a threat to someone who lives in west.
Another brief by the guide will be
conducted before starting the trek.. You will head in the forest to look
for these cousins of Man. Other examples of animals, which you will come
across, are bushbucks, golden monkeys, and elephants. If time allows you
will come back from the trek and go caving. This is one of the caves where
once crafty Batwa (who were warriors) lived and fought. The cave is 342m
in length and 14m deep and now inhabited by bats. Your guide will show
you all. Return to Travelers Inn; relax, dinner and over night.
Day Seven
Depart early morning to
Lake Bunyonyi Overland Camp, in western part of Uganda. It’s an average
of four hour drive from Travelers Inn in Kisoro. A short drive away from
Kabale town will lead us to another African secret spot Bunyonyi Overland
Camp. Sit down, relax or have a swim in one of Africa's prettiest lakes,
Lake Bunyonyi in southwestern Uganda. Bunyonyi Overland is ecologically
built, with local materials. It is locally owned and provides important
employment opportunities for the people around the lake.
The camp has a spacious snack bar,
with various wines, bottled water, satellite TV that will let you enjoy
the freshness of the lake.
Check into your cottage overlooking
the lake, relax in the evening dinner and overnight.
Day Eight
Wake up in the morning,
breakfast and take a boat ride around the lake. You will see birds and
of course enjoy the freshness of the lake. This is a canoe boat which you
will have a chance to participate. A guide however will be available. But
if water is a problem to you then you will just play other games available.
Many tourists from other countries camp here, you will meet other people
too.
At 11.00 am prepare to travel to
Kampala, arriving late afternoon. Various stops will be done including
a stop at the Equator where you will stand in the two
hemispheres of the planet simultaneously. Check in your Hotel. In the evening
you can choose to visit Kampala’s hot night spots, like Rock garden, The
Venue, Nandos, Kelly’s pub, or a visit at Casino( This in not included
in the cost though).
